Recent Events Recap
![]() A lovely gathering! | Annual Holiday PartyWe were thrilled to gather for our annual Gamma Gamma holiday open house. This year’s festive event was graciously hosted by Vicky Luine at her beautiful Upper East Side home. From heartfelt conversations to joyful laughter, it was a wonderful evening filled with warmth, friendship, and holiday cheer. We are so grateful to everyone who joined us and helped make the night so special. A heartfelt thank you to Vicky for opening her home and hosting us with such generosity and grace. |
Su Hilty’s Celebration of LifeIn February, we gathered to honor the life of our beloved Su Hilty at a beautiful Celebration of Life. While her presence is deeply missed, reflecting on the joy, energy, and love she brought into the world was a privilege. A few special memories shared: Su’s legacy lives on in the many lives she touched. We are so grateful to have known her. | ![]() Hats were encouraged as hats were Su’s favorite accessory! |
Sister Spotlight

Sherrie Hinkle is one of our long-time and esteemed members, and we are so happy to spotlight her this quarter!
Career | I’ve been retired since 2013. most of my professional life was spent in two arts-related institutions- 15 years at the School of American Ballet (half in the Development Department, half as Director of Student Lift) and then another 15 years at Professional Children’s School as Director of Admissions. PCS is an academic school serving talented middle and high school students whose time and schedules are challenging due to high-level training (like SB or Juilliard Pre-College) and/or actual professional commitments (actors, models, athletes). I considered both of these institutions to be the job of my dreams— and awoke every morning looking forward to going to work. I remain involved with both as a volunteer and a donor.
In a way, AXO helped set me up for my wonderful professional life. Someone(s) recognized in me a talent I didn’t know I had for hard work, organization, and logisitics. All of my jobs and office positions in Gamma Epsilon demanded these traits, culminating in my selection as Rush Captain for my Senior year. I loved the planning, the all -hands-on-deck particpation, the joy of a job well done, all while making a lot of work look effortless.
Favorite NYC Location | Where to begin? Lincoln Center, Central Park, the Highline, the Metropolitan Museum, the Union Square Green Market, Grand Central Terminal, Le Cheile Irish Pub, Rockefeller Center during the holidays, Billie Jean King National Tennis Center, the Statue of Liberty, my Turtle Bay neighborhood... and probably many more.
Advice to NYC Newbies | Get out and enjoy it all and make your own discoveries - they are around every corner! If you want to meet really nice people of all ages, get a dog.
What I have mentioned in all of the above is travel. I have visited over 60 countries on all seven continents. It’s the most eye-opening, character-building, mind-expanding thing anyone can do. As wonderful as NYC is, there are different and also wonderful experiences to be had in every corner of the world. and you get to be pretty skilled at packing a suitcase!
